3 Tips On How To Configure Tp Link Wireless Router With Cable Internet

How to Get An Internet Connection Without a Phone Line in Australia

Need to configure your TP-Link Wireless router? Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can configure your device.

  Basic Setup and Configuration

Follow the basic steps on how to configure a TP-Link router.

Connect a TP-Link router to a modem using an Ethernet cable.

Plug in your TP-Link router and switch it on using the On/Off switch usually placed at the back panel of the device.

Then, connect to the default wireless network of the TP-Link router. The details on the default WPA2 key and SSID are printed at the bottom part of the router.

On the web browser of your computer, type in “tplinkwifi.net” in the address field to open the management page.

Log in using the default settings credentials. The default username and password are both “admin,” all in lower case letters, then click Login. (Note: If the login window does not prompt, it simply indicates that your web browser was set to proxy.

To correct this, go to Tools menu> Internet Options> Connections> LAN Settings. Tick the “Using Proxy” checkbox at the screen that will appear, and then click the OK button to finish the process.)

Once logged in, a window will pop-up labeled as Quick Setup Wizard. Click on the Next button to get the process started.

In the Wireless Network Name or SSID field, type in the SSID you want to use on your wireless network. (Note: Computers near your router will be able to view your SSID so avoid using any personal information including the type of router you are using.)

In the Wireless Security, you can choose between disabling security or using WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK. Choosing the latter will prompt you to enter the wireless password you want to use on your device’s wireless network. (Note: Use a strong password, something that is difficult for others to guess.)

Once done, click the Next button.

  Click the Finish button.

Once the process is done, you will automatically be disconnected from the router’s wireless network. You will then be prompted to sign in via your new SSID and password.

Set up for your TP-Link router’s wireless network is now done.
